The Used Kitchen Company is delighted to announce its partnership with kbb20 to help exhibitors sell their displays ahead of the Birmingham show and, in doing so, take important strides towards sustainability within the kitchen industry.  As the event’s official partner, we hope to find new homes for all kitchens on show, ensuring that perfectly reusable displays do not go to waste after their week in the spotlight.

Kitchen waste has long been an issue that has plagued the interior design industry. Each year, tens of thousands of high quality kitchens in the UK are thrown away, as homeowners embark on renovations and showrooms replace their displays with the latest and greatest.

We hope that this partnership will bring the philosophy of kitchen-recycling into the public eye, and highlight the ease with which used and ex display kitchens can be re-used in a way that benefits all parties involved, including the environment. It is our expectation that this collaboration will change how we come to think of our kitchens – no longer something flimsy or disposable, but the product of skilled craftsmanship and quality materials, designed to be reused over and over again. TUKC will plan to find a new home for displays prior to the exhibition and arrange for buyers to collect them from kbb20 at the end of the show. Since it is the buyer’s responsibility to collect the kitchen, this will save exhibitors from having to arrange transportation and storage of their displays after the exhibition.

We are extremely proud to be working together with kbb in this capacity and look forward to working closely with kitchen manufacturers and showrooms to facilitate the recycling of their displays, to help encourage a more sustainable culture within the industry.  Kbb Birmingham is Europe’s largest dedicated kitchens, bedrooms and bathrooms exhibition. The event will feature over 400 exhibiting brands to an expected audience of over 16,000 visitors. Therefore, it would be difficult to choose a better setting from which to launch our sustainability initiative.

Mark Gordon, the Director of kbb, has perfectly captured the spirit of this collaboration:

“We are committed to achieving a sustainable show and having a positive environmental and social
impact on the KBB sector, so this is a really encouraging step forward. We very much look forward to
working with The Used Kitchen Company to maximise this exciting partnership for our exhibitors.”

It is very important for the kitchen industry to show its support for working towards a sustainable future. Recycling your kitchen displays is a great way to reduce unnecessary waste and save money in the process.
